Selma van de Perre and Pauline Collins

We remember Selma va de Perre and Pauline Collins who have both recently passed away.

Selma (who died aged 103 on 25 October 2025) led an incredible life. She was involved in the Dutch resistance, a survivor of Ravensbrück and a maths teacher at Sacred Heart.  She also published her highly acclaimed memoirs 10 years ago 'My name is Selma'. The image above left is from our Summer Graden Party in 2023.

Pauline Collins (who died at the age of 85 on 6 November 2025) was a student here and later became an accomplished actress.  She found fame as Shirley Valentine, the housewife who escapes to Greece. Having played this part in the original one-woman play, she was Oscar nominated for the film.
