| The Goal of an Active Faith |
In 1844, a young nun of the Society, Pauline Perdrau, painted a fresco of Mary. One hundred and eighty years ago today, Pope Pius IX blessed the painting under the title Mater Admirabilis ("Mother Most Admirable"). Shortly afterwards, Madeleine Sophie Barat, founder of the Society of the Sacred Heart, chose Mater as the patron of all Sacred Heart schools.
Today, 20 October, we celebrate this feast day alongside 155 Sacred Heart schools across the world. Our morning worship was dedicated to Mater and, during lunch break, students and staff had the opportunity to pray the Rosary together in the prayer room, taking time to reflect and find calm on this important day.
