Visit from the Superior General

We were thrilled to meet the Society of the Sacred Heart's superior general Sr Clare Castaing RSCJ and members of the General Council, Sr Ananda Amritmahal RSCJ and Sr Noellina Namusisi RSCJ yesterday. They were joined by Sr Georgina Zubiria Maqueo, the Treasurer General for the Society.

We will have images of their visit here in due course but the photo above show Sr Claire Castaing RSCJ (right) just after her election as superior general at the General Chapter last summer. She stands with the previous Superior General (left) Barbara Dawson, RSCJ, and lights Sophie's candle. This candle was at Sophie’s bedside at the time of her death; and the Society has kept it since then. Each new superior general, at the time of her election, lights this candle for a brief moment.

They were in England for an informal visist and hadn't expected to have time to call in here but they managed to find a brief moment on Monday afternoon.  We told them all about our exciting organ news and they walked around the cloisters admiring the paintings and hearing about our plans for their restoration.  They visited the cloister garden and saw the restored statue saved from Lille.  They also saw the Goals wall art on the blue stairs and came down the Russell stairs looking at the new wall art for MFL featuring the culture of all French and Spanish speaking countrries where there are Sacred Heart schools; and the wall art for history and DT.

They also visited our Kairos Centre and met our chaplain before leaving with some gifts from the school.

What an unexpected surprise that was; what a pleasure!
