Chapel Light Brackets Go Up

Whilst our school community was enjoying a sunny Easter break, our renovations team was hard at work taking the first steps towards installing our new chapel lighting. Most of the fluorescent strip lighting and all the old theatre lighting has now been removed and replaced with the ornate brackets pictured above, marking a major first step towards the pendant lights. These will be replicated from our chapel architect’s other works in Westminster Cathedral and St Mary’s, Cadogan Street.

Temporary lighting is currently in place until the next stage of the project is complete. For those attending our Organ Talk this Thursday, 16 April, you will have the opportunity to see the new fixtures for yourselves!

The new lighting scheme will allow the chapel to be illuminated in a variety of digital settings. Work has also begun on the installation of a new sound system and a drop-down screen, which has been fixed to the rear of the main arch. This will allow even those seated at the very back of the chapel to see all the minute details during Alex’s future Historical Talks!
