Open House Festival 2026

This weekend, we opened our doors as part of the free London Open House Festival, inviting visitors to discover what lies behind the wall on Hammersmith Broadway. Throughout the day, we welcomed 250 visitors, including former pupils, local residents, prospective parents, and even passers-by who spotted our signage and were curious to see inside!

Visitors could attend one of our free heritage talks exploring the rich history of the school and, of course, hear the exciting news that we have secured Lottery Heritage Fund funding for our rare pipe organ. They also browsed a heritage exhibition in the Reception Room and guided themselves around the school grounds using our new Heritage Trail, which highlights key points of historic interest across the site. Our newly restored cloister paintings and cloister garden were a big hit, with one guest describing the school as "a neighbourhood gem". Another was delighted to discover her own name and degree listed on an honour board in the Reception Room, something she had never known existed despite being a former pupil!

The day was a wonderful reminder of the deep connections that so many people feel to Sacred Heart and the importance of sharing the heritage of our unique site with the wider community. As The Sacred Heart Loret Organ Restoration Project continues to grow, we look forward to creating even more opportunities for people to engage with our history and heritage.
