The Jack Petchey Speak Out Challenge is an initiative designed to get students talking. To prepare, our oracy programme was rolled out to Year 10 this September, with a series of workshops focused on how to deliver speeches with confidence. Winners from the September workshops took part in the Sacred Heart Final on 5 November 2026. Six students presented a speech in front of their entire year, delivering on topics such as feminism, racism, diabetes, AI, racial discrimination, and local politics.
A panel of judges including Ms Linden, Ms Philips, and Ms Maton watched the 6 speeches and decided on one winner, Margaret W, and two runners up, Zara Q, and Amy L. Congratulations girls!
These victors will now be invited to take part in the Regional Final on 3 December at Fulham Cross Girl’s School.
