Students vs Teachers Football Match

as part of our First Give project.

The First Give project, provides students with the opportunity to consider local charities and ways to help them. Each form choses a different charity and organises a social action to fundraise for it. Each form later makes a presentation to First Give about their chosen charity and one is chosen by First Give to win a £1,000 donation.

On the 30th of January, Form 10 'S' organised a social action event to raise money and awareness for Solace, a domestic violence charity. The chosen social action was a football match. They chose this because during football matches, the cases of domestic violence rise especially when fans face a defeat, even more so during international matches such as the World Cup.

Solace helps women specifically who have survived domestic violence feel heard and understood, they also help survivors and their families by providing temporary accommodation, therapy and legal advice.

10S’ charity event was a big success with many students attending to raise money and help out. Teachers even took part in the football match (Miss Vitija, Dr Leach, Mr T, Mr Croft, Mr Murphy, Mr Coughlan, Mr McConnal). The students’ Y10 team was made up of Rachael, Lauren, Madalena, Maya, Megan, Alex, Mary, Gabrielle and Monika. The final result ended in a draw at 6-6.
