Our newest leadership opportunity, Topical Talk Ambassadors, is a selective educational programme designed by The Economist Educational Foundation.
These ambassadors in Years 8-10 will explore current affairs through discussion and debate, enabling the development of critical thinking, oracy, and news literacy skills. They will also discuss a range of topics beginning with the upcoming overhaul of the National Curriculum, linked to Becky Frances' review comissioned by the government in July 2024.
As ambassadors, our students will take a lead role in promoting discussion in their groups and across the school, supporting their peers, and ultimately building confidence in essential speaking and listening skills.
At the end of the course, our ambassadors will create a pitch for The Economist's Topical Talk Competition, based on one of the topics covered during the weekly sessions or on a relevant public policy issue, to support continuous school improvement.
