Our incredible Baroque Feast!

A truly magical evening was had last Friday 19 June as we hosted our much-anticipated fundraising concert in support of the restoration of our Loret pipe-organ in the chapel. The UK’s leading organ expert believes it to be the UK's rarest pipe organ and this special piece of shared heritage was at the heart of a memorable night.

Almost 200 guests filled the chapel to enjoy a thrilling Baroque programme performed by an outstanding group of musicians. A particularly joyful moment came as our Schola Cantorum burst into applause and cheers to celebrate our Head of Music, Mr Swain, following his beautiful performance of Handel’s Trio Sonata on the flute.

One of the highlights of the evening was seeing our Schola pupils perform Vivaldi’s Gloria alongside the chamber orchestra. Their performance drew a well-deserved standing ovation from the audience, which included the Mayor of Hammersmith and Fulham and local MP Andy Slaughter. Adding to this special moment, pupils presented flowers and chocolates, which they had raised money for themselves(!), to Martin Hall, Mr Swain and Ms Jones in recognition of their dedication and hard work. We also extend our sincere thanks to everyone who helped make this wonderful evening possible.

After the performance, guests gathered in the cloister garden to enjoy canapés and wine. It was an opportunity for old friends and alumnae to reconnect, while our Schola pupils enjoyed celebrating together, taking photos in the cloisters, and Mr Khan was kept busy by popular demand at the merchandise stand!

The evening raised just shy of £2,000, bringing our organ fundraising total to £82,755. We are so incredibly blessed by our community and thank everyone who supported the event by attending or donating. Your generosity makes community events like this possible; helping us to celebrate our shared heritage and preserve it for future pupils.

Make sure to check out the amazing musical performances- we'll post today at 18:30 on our Facebook and Instagram pages @shhshammersmith!!
