Visit from Sophie Raworth

Top BBC journalist and newsreader

We were delighted to be joined at SHHS by top BBC journalist and presenter of BBC News at Ten, Sophie Raworth. Sophie spoke to Year 12, Year 13 and selected members of Y11 about her amazing career and what it is like to be one of the nation's most recognised faces.

She had recorded a video especially for Sacred Heart students, from behind the scenes at the previous evening's 10 O'Clock News and she shared many interesting stories and insights from her many experiences, including broadcasting at important  national events such as the Queens' funeral and the King's coronation.

Many students asked thoughtful and probing questions about the media, the difficulty of editorial choices and how to fact check stories appropriately before broadcasting.

We are very thankful to Sophie for sharing her time and expertise with us and to Mr Munro Davies for organising the talk.
