The Goal of Personal Growth |
Tuesday night saw the return of SHHS’s annual Contemporary Sounds competition, featuring some of the best bands and musical acts that the school has to offer. We had a staggering 13 bands perform, with a further 4 acts supporting them pre-show and a brilliant performance by the Glee Club. The Old Gym was packed out as each band played a cover song for the audience and a judging panel featuring ex-collegian Sophia Mohan of the band SOMOH.
The standard of performances this year hit a new high, and all performers should be incredibly proud of all they have accomplished. In the end, a winner had to be decided, and it was Year 10 band M.I.A (Jhennielle A, Maxinne M, Carla B, Chloe D, Rebecca S and Mia MS) whose lively performance captivated and rocked the audience. Awards were also given for Best Vocalist (Olivia Z; RISE & Feedback), Best Guitarist (Maxinne M; M.I.A & VELIS), Best Bassist (Sofia M; Collection Point), Best Drummer (Sesina D; Leora, Feedback), and Best Performer (Ava K; Serendipity).
Well done once again to all, and a big thank you to Mr McConnell, Mrs Jones, Mr Kellett and Miss Mallon for all their help coordinating the show.
