ICC Heritage Trail Map

In collaboration with the Irish Cultural Centre (ICC), our Year 12 students are researching, designing, and producing a digital and printed Heritage Trail map documenting the history and cultural impact of the Irish community in Hammersmith.

On 22 January, pupils interviewed several ICC members about the Irish diaspora and community in Hammersmith, filming at sites of interest they had identified during their archiving work. The topics explored included Irish pubbing, the dancehalls, the history of the ICC, and notable figures such as Pauline Collins who have had a significant influence. Each student took on the role of photographer, cinematographer, or interviewer for each interview conducted. The ICC members gave fantastic feedback, and our students have really been enjoying the project so far.

Year 12 will now begin editing the interview footage to select the information they will use for their final video. This will then inform the Heritage Trail Map, which will serve as a curated route through Hammersmith highlighting sites of Irish cultural heritage.
