Future Sounds

Triborough Music Competition

The night after Sacred Heart’s Contemporary Sounds competition, two of our music groups competed at the Tri-borough’s Future Sounds competition at Bush Hall. Future Sounds is a big Battle of the Bands style event run by the Music Hub, featuring some of the top talents from the Tri-borough area. Alongside having an extraordinary performance opportunity, contestants received feedback from some of the most prominent names in the music industry, including Will Champion from the band Coldplay and Sharleen Spiteri of the band Texas.

Rise (Olivia Z and Lydia M) performed Somebody You Loved by Lewis Capaldi and their original song Pieces, and received a rapturous reception from the adjudication panel and the audience alike. The panel even thought their original song could be a great pick as the theme for a new James Bond movie! Reverie (Laiza L and Susana GM) performed Best Part by Daniel Caesar and their original song Daydream, which the panel thought was a brilliant and well-constructed original work. They were thoroughly commended on how well they complimented each other and how they worked as a team.

Laiza ended up winning the hotly contested award for Best Vocalist, which was an incredible feat that we’re all very proud of. Massive congratulations to Laiza, and a huge well done to Susana, Lydia and Olivia for representing themselves and the school with pride and confidence.
