PSHE Day 2026

Thursday 12 February marked our whole‑school PSHE Day, a special day when normal lessons pause and every student, from Year 7 to Year 13, takes part in a rich programme of workshops, classes, and activities. Each year group focuses on a specific theme and students experienced an incredible variety of activities throughout the day. Below is a breakdown of what each year group took part in and the focus of their learning. Happy reading!

Year 7: Building Positive Relationships

Our Year 7 students spent their PSHE Day exploring the theme of Building Positive Relationships, a focus designed to help them navigate their new secondary school environment with confidence and kindness. Throughout the day, pupils took part in sharing circles and guided meditation sessions, giving them a supportive space to express their thoughts and feelings. A highlight was the interactive Tender Sessions, which encouraged students to reflect on the qualities of healthy and unhealthy friendships. Year 7 were also reminded that school is a safe and open environment where questions are welcomed, and where young women can learn to develop healthy, positive relationships with their minds and bodies, as well as with one another.

Y8: Relationships and Sex Education (RSE)

Our Year 8 spent the day focusing on RSE, with an emphasis on developing their knowledge and understanding of healthy relationships and personal growth. Throughout the day, students explored topics such as healthy relationships and feelings, relationship values, and growing and changing. As part of their learning, students worked together to create an advice flyer aimed at supporting a young person who might be in an unhealthy relationship; an activity designed to build empathy and encourage critical thinking. To end the day, the year group took part in a session led by any NHS nurse on menstrual health, giving students the opportunity to ask questions in a supportive, open environment.

Y9: Drugs, Alcohol and Staying Safe Whilst Socialising

Our Year 9 programme encouraged pupils to think critically about risk, peer influence, and the decisions they make as they grow into greater independence. Pupils also took part in a self‑defence session, helping them to build both practical skills and personal resilience. The day aimed to support our Year 9 students in understanding how to navigate the world beyond the classroom, empowering them to stay safe, look out for one another, and enjoy their teenage years with confidence and responsibility.

Y10: Students Pitch for Change at First Give Final

The next generation of activists and philanthropists took the stage this week as Year 10 students competed in the grand final of the First Give programme. The event, which saw students pitching for a £1,000 charity grant, was punctuated by a special appearance from the Mayor of Hammersmith and Fulham, who joined the audience to witness the students' innovative approach to social action. As part of their project, the winning team organised sales where period products, rather than pound coins, were used as currency. This innovative "swap" system was designed to directly combat period poverty, ensuring that essential supplies were collected for local shelters while sparking vital conversations among the student body. The Mayor noted the impressive level of empathy and resourcefulness displayed by the students, highlighting that the future of the borough is in capable hands. After a period of intense deliberation, the £1,000 prize was awarded to team 10E representing Flow Happy, with 10T highly commended.

Y11: Thriving Through Exam Season

Our Year 11 students spent their PSHE Day preparing for their upcoming exams. They began the morning with a talk from Dr Josephine Perry, a sports psychologist, who explored how to perform well under pressure. Students then went on to strengthen their study skills through targeted revision lessons with subject teachers. Whilst academic preparation for exams is essential, our Year 11s were also reminded that taking care of themselves is just as important. Our pupils also took part in a series of workshops themed around “what refills your cup,” encouraging them to consider the importance of hobbies and interests when navigating exam season. Maintaining a healthy balance is essential for staying calm and focused, and the workshops offered a range of activities including yoga, art, prayer, meditation, knitting, walks, and more, to support wellbeing and personal balance.

Y12: First Aid Training

Our Year 12 students received certified First Aid training delivered by STS First Aid, gaining a nationally recognised qualification that empowers them with vital, life-saving skills. This hands-on training equipped pupils with the practical knowledge and confidence needed to respond effectively in emergency situations; skills that benefit both their school life and the wider community. These qualifications also work to enhance our students' employability as they look ahead to future study and career opportunities.

Y13: Life Beyond Sixth Form

PSHE Day was a timely and meaningful opportunity to help prepare our Year 13s to take their next steps into adulthood. With their school journey nearing its end, the day aimed to equip them with the practical knowledge, confidence, and independence they will need as they enter university, apprenticeships, or the world of work. Students explored what to expect when managing tuition fees and maintenance loans at university with guest speakers from the University of Bath and gained an insight into payslips, taxes, pensions, and the financial responsibilities that come with independent living in another session. All students also had the opportunity to participate in a self‑defence class, helping them build awareness, confidence, and practical strategies for keeping themselves safe as they move into new environments.
