We had a workshop during on 12 March with the RSC - which involved a lecture by a Shakespeare historian and academic about Shakespeare's theatre, then a practical actor's rehearsal with an associate director of the RSC who got everyone to recite 'To be or not to be...' and work on staging and movement.
Finally we went back to the RSC stage, to meet some of the actors talking about this particular production of Hamlet and the decisions which led to it being staged on a liner in 1911 which sinks (Titanic!). Rupert Goold is the director.
In the evening we watched the production of Hamlet. We stayed at the Youth Hostel just outside Stratford, and the next day we visited Shakespeare's birthplace and Anne Hathaway's Cottage.
