British Airways visit Year 7 & 12

Careers

On Wednesday 21st May we had seven British Airways Engineering Graduates (Inspire Ambassadors) come into our school and run sessions with all our Year 7 students. The students heard about career opportunities in Aviation, and they also got to build and fly their own paper airplanes. They learnt how increasing the mass of their airplane (through adding paperclips) impacted the flight in the same way passengers and luggage would.

We were also fortunate that the ambassadors delivered an additional session to some of our Year 12 students on apprenticeships and graduate schemes that BA offer. They then had an opportunity to ask the ambassadors any questions and also how they could apply for work experience.

The sessions were organised through a Sacred Heart alumna, Isadora who studied at our sixth form and went on to study Aeronautical Engineering. We are very proud of her achievements, and we hope that she and the other ambassadors inspired our students to consider careers in engineering and other STEAM careers. Please do speak with your child at home about careers and encourage them to continue to look at different options available to them.

We are very grateful to the engineering graduates who joined us from British Airways, Isadors, Maryam, Kevin, TK, Jason and Piotr.
